Zuffa Boxing set to announce inaugural New York show

Zuffa Boxing are preparing to announce their first show in New York City, with Richardson Hitchins and Edgar Berlanga set to feature.

Dana White has been insistent on the boxing public judging his body of work after a year in the game and not now.

It’s fair to say it has been a slow start for Zuffa Boxing, a promotion tipped to takeover the sport.

Whether they can successfully replicate the UFC model is yet to be seen, but things are slowly starting to pick up pace.

The first 6 shows have all been staged at the META Apex in Las Vegas, in front of very small crowds.

However, the announcement of a landmark broadcast deal with Sky Sports sees Zuffa Boxing head to Bournemouth next month.

Former world champion Chris Billiam Smith headlines in his hometown against Ryan Rozicki.

The Saudi backed promotion has also announced an event at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, as they gear up to move away from The Apex in a big way.

Dan Rafael has reported that Zuffa Boxing are set to stage an event in New York City on July 26.

Landmark signings Richardson Hitchins, Edgar Berlanga and Sergey Derevyanchenko are all set to feature.

Hitchins recently vacated his IBF super lightweight world title, as the 140lbs limit has become a struggle.

What a move to welterweight will look like in terms of strategy is unknown for the Brooklyn star.

For Berlanga, the road back looks fairly clear.

The outspoken former world title challenger has been calling for a rematch with Hamzah Sheeraz via social media.

Sheeraz brutally stopped Berlanga in New York last summer inside five rounds.

Derevyanchenko has fought the very best during his career, at 40 years old now, the Ukrainians last defeat came to the now WBC super middleweight world champion Christian Mbilli.
