Dana White and Zuffa Boxing have announced their first American show away from the Meta Apex, as ZUFFA 008 heads to The Cosmopolitan.
The Zuffa Boxing train is starting to pick up some momentum.
Whilst still being heavily criticised by the boxing world, events are starting to be announced frequently.
A first show on UK soil was announced recently, with new cruiserweight signing Chris Billiam Smith headlining in his hometown of Bournemouth.
It’s now back to America, back to Las Vegas, but not back to The Meta Apex.
The Apex, owned by TKO, has been the home for all of Zuffa Boxing’s show as of today.
It’s a small venue, described as a ‘garage’ by promotional rivals like Eddie Hearn, but it was never going to be the permanent home that’s for sure.
What is still unclear is the true direction of the promotion.
Will they continue disregarding the four recognised belts in favour of promoting the Zuffa belt, or have they realised how much legacy these governing bodies bring?
Another key factor in their mission was 50/50 fights, and that is certainly something they are delivering in Zuffa 008.
Edwin De Los Santos takes on Jose Valenzuela in a lightweight bout over ten rounds at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
From the Dominican Republic, De Los Santos gave pound for pound great Shakur Stevenson a competitive fight in 2023
With the scorecards reading 116-12, 116-112, 115-113 in favour of the three weight world champion.
Omar Trinidad will feature on the undercard against the Philippine by the name of Jerwin Ancajas.
In the 147lbs division, an all American bout between Cain Sandoval and Brandun Lee.
This Sunday night feature adds to a busy summer schedule in the States.
Just a week before this, Matchroom Boxing and Top Rank are promoting Xander Zayas vs Jaron Ennis.
