Dana White has announced his fifth ZUFFA Boxing event set to take place at the Meta Apex on April 5th on Paramount Plus.
Whilst Dana White has insisted to judge ZUFFA Boxing’s product in 12 months time, they have caused immense disruption in the first few months of 2026.
Last weekend saw Jai Opetaia (30-0, 23ko’s) defeat Brandon Glanton (21-4, 18ko’s) via unanimous decision to become the inaugural ZUFFA Boxing world champion.
The ZUFFA belt is what has caused the majority of controversy.
Dana White and ZUFFA have publicly declared their intention to disregard the four recognised governing bodies, the WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF.
This venture into boxing is financially supported by SELA and Turki Al-Sheikh.
Another intention is to revolutionise what they deem a ‘broken’ sport.
Criticism from existing promoters like Eddie Hearn and Oscar De La Hoya has sparked into a fully fledged battle between the so called ‘old guard’ and the ‘new kids on the block’.
ZUFFA Boxing has announced their fifth show, with current super featherweight contender Andres Cortes (24-0, 13ko’s) taking on Eridson Garcia (23-1, 14ko’s).
With the sports newest promotion declaring that they will not recognise weight classes like super-featherweight, it is likely this bout will take place at 135lbs.
The co-feature will match former WBC featherweight champ Mark Magsayo against Feargal McCrory in a 10-round lightweight fight.
The main portion of “Zuffa Boxing 5” will begin on Paramount+ with a 10-round featherweight bout between Armenia’s Azat Hovhannisyan (22-6, 17ko’s) and Mexico’s Eduardo Baez (25-7-2, 10k0’s).
This event will take place on April 5th in Las Vegas at the Meta Apex.
