Youngest ever undisputed world champion remains undefeated

It’s clear why this 23-year-old has already made history.

In 2024, a 22-year-old made boxing history by becoming the youngest undisputed world champion – male or female – in the four-belt era.

Before then, the record was held by Devin Haney, who was 23 when he first claimed the title after defeating George Kambosos Jr.

But it was Gabriela Fundora who put in an impressive performance to snatch the record from her fellow American.

Since cementing her name in the history books, Fundora has continued to extend her unbeaten streak.

Her latest outing saw her defend her titles for the third consecutive time.

This weekend, against Viviana Ruiz, Fundora used her size advantage to perfection, delivering an emphatic victory.

She dominated the punch count from the opening bell, but it wasn’t until the fourth round that a decisive moment arrived.

The American unleashed a quick three-punch combination that sent Ruiz staggering to the canvas, though she managed to rise before the bell rang.

When the action resumed in the fifth, the pressure intensified, leaving Ruiz struggling to land a single meaningful punch against the relentless champion.

In the sixth round, Fundora turned up the pressure, looking for the finish as she rained a punishing series of punches on Ruiz, who could barely respond.

Unable to withstand the onslaught, Ruiz absorbed heavy damage before the referee stepped in to halt the fight.

As the bright, heavy-handed flyweight continues to assert her dominance, her record now sits at 18-0.

After scoring her fourth straight stoppage victory, ‘Sweet Poison’ said: “I think it was a good performance. I think she felt my punches right away.”

Looking ahead, Gabriela Fundora has revealed that her next move could involve dropping down to 108lbs.

If she succeeds, it would be an unprecedented achievement and could open the door to even bigger nights in the ring.

At the new weight, her sights would likely be set on becoming undisputed once again.

This could see her coming up against unified champion Evelyn Bermudez or WBC titleholder Lourdes Juarez.
