Xander Zayas makes bold claim ahead of Jaron Ennis fight

Zayas makes big claim ahead of Ennis clash.

Jaron Ennis and Xander Zayas will meet in the ring this Saturday to contest the unified super-welterweight championship.

The contest is one of the most anticipated of the current boxing schedule, with big implications for the man who emerges as the winner.

Zayas is the youngest unified champion in all of boxing, whereas Ennis has already been unified at welterweight. Victory for either would do wonders for their reputation.

There is even something for British fans on the same show, as Ben Whittaker will be facing Richard ‘Popeye the Sailor Man’ Rivera on the undercard.

However, it is the main event that has the majority of the boxing populace talking, with many arguing that the victor should potentially be in the pound-for-pound discussion.

Either way, both combatants are supremely confident heading in, as is to be expected of two top-level athletes. And ahead of their clash this week, Zayas has made a very bold claim regarding what he believes will occur.

Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, when asked what vibe he got from his soon-to-be opponent, Zayas replied, “He thinks he’s a bully, and that’s about it, but it doesn’t matter to me if he likes me or he doesn’t like me.”

Upon being asked if he thinks Ennis believes he will bully him, Zayas responded, “He might think that. I think I can bully him. I think I will bully him. But that’s the way we’re supposed to think as fighters, you know?”

Indeed, if either Ennis or Zayas win in one-sided fashion, their stock will rise exponentially. But as for right now, boxing fans should just look forward to what should be an extremely interesting affair later this week.
