Lomachenko seeking world-class opposition for his next two fights.
Vasiliy Lomachenko is one of the most incredible boxers of the 21st century. An absolute wizard in the ring, the Ukrainian master is often held up as the gold standard when it comes to footwork and overall fight IQ.
Winning a major world title in only his third professional fight, it took Lomachenko just 12 outings to become a three-weight world champion. These two achievements make him the joint-fastest boxer to become a world titleholder and the fastest in history to do so across three weights.
In his prime, he was an absolute wonder, a marvel, a poet who worked with his fists, a man who took the rich tapestry boxing itself is woven out of and wrapped himself in it from head to toe.
When he bowed out of the sport in 2024, he did so with a domination over George Kambosos Jr. to win the IBF and IBO lightweight titles. And it was thought that after achieving so much, he was ready to bid farewell to the profession he made look like an absolute breeze.
Apparently not, as it was announced just under a week ago that he would be making his return, and it was revealed earlier today just what sort of names he has in mind for his comeback.
On the “Inside The Ring” podcast, Mike Coppinger stated that he’s been told Lomachenko is looking at fighting Emanuel Navarrete, the current unified lightweight champion.
After that, Lomachenko is reportedly seeking a blockbuster clash with recent lightweight titlist Gervonta Davis, which has been discussed several times in the past.
Should this be true, it’s clear the man known as “The Matrix” is dodging no bullets whatsoever. In fact, he appears to be running headlong into a hail of shells to see if one of them can finally hit him or if maybe, just maybe, he shall dance between them just like he used to.
Loma wants the HEAT for his return to the ring! 🫡
