Dangerous Czech to challenge former Team GB Olympian.
Vasil Ducar is a very dangerous man.
The 36-year-old cruiserweight is from the Czech Republic, not traditionally a boxing hotbed. In fact, there is yet to be a male Czech boxer to win a major title.
However, Ducar is a terrific representative of his country. A man who can punch and take a punch, Ducar has ultimately made his name in fights he’s just come up short in.
His first loss was to future bridgerweight champion and heavyweight contender Kevin Lerena for the IBO cruiserweight title. Since then, he has grown his profile by challenging British fighters like Chris Billam-Smith, Jordan Thompson, and Cheavon Clarke.
Now it seems he has yet another British opponent to contend with.
Recent reports have been claiming that Ducar is going to be the next opponent of former Olympian Pat Brown, set to headline a Matchroom Boxing card on the 3rd of April in Altrincham.
The undefeated Brown has quickly established himself as a fearsome force in the cruiserweight class. A gnarly puncher who has won all five of his professional bouts inside the distance, the furthest he has been is the fourth round, and that was in his professional debut.
Brown needs rounds at this stage of his career, and Ducar may be the one to give them to him. Sporting a 19-7-2 record, Ducar has only been stopped once, and that was a corner retirement to Mike Pérez.
Ducar badly hurt Jordan Thompson at the end of their fight and went the distance with Chris Billam-Smith despite being down twice.
He has the attributes to give Brown some serious problems, and with 14 knockouts in his 19 wins, he has the power to go along with his toughness.
It’s the type of opponent Brown needs to really show what he’s worth, the perfect step-up for the young contender.
Let’s see if he passes the test.
