Heavyweight superstar’s brother reveals his next fight will be on Makhmudov undercard.
Tyson Fury will be making his return on the 11th of April after over 15 months out of the ring to lock horns with Arslanbek Makhmudov, the scariest-looking specimen in world heavyweight boxing.
This will not be the Russian’s first fight against a Briton in the United Kingdom. In October, the Mozdok man-mountain travelled to Sheffield to upset the favoured Dave Allen. As a result, more English fans are now aware of his name, and they will be more interested in his upcoming fight than perhaps they would have been otherwise.
However, it goes without saying that ‘The Gypsy King’ is an entirely different kettle of fish to ‘The White Rhino’. As Fury himself put it during the recent launch press conference for his fight, “Dave’s me pal, ‘The White Rhino”, but if he [Makhmudov] thinks it’s anything like that–that’s like swimmin’ in a garden pond and then tryin’ to swim across the Atlantic Ocean in bad weather. It’s totally different.”
So, Fury is clearly full of confidence heading into his first fight back against his big-punching foe, but what can be said of the bouts supporting the main event?
While nothing has been made official, it has been rumoured that a British heavyweight title fight between Jeamie TKV and Richard Riakporhe is set to feature as part of the Netflix-streamed show. However, we now have confirmation of another fighter scheduled to appear on the card.
In an interview with Boxing King Media, Roman Fury (brother of Tyson) revealed that he will be fighting on the undercard himself, saying, “I’ve had a few issues, but we’re all good now, and next fight very soon on Tyson’s undercard, so [I’m] very happy.”
Roman Fury is a heavyweight like his famous brother and possesses a style almost identical to him. Having started his professional journey in 2022, Roman has amassed a record of 6-0 with 3 KOs and was last seen stopping Kevin Greenwood in January of this year on the undercard of Agit Kabayel’s defeat of Damian Knyba.
