Fury vs. Joshua to be set for early-morning start time.
The monumental showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is one fans have been praying will happen for a number of years.
The all-British heavyweight battle will undoubtedly do big numbers no matter what. That’s just the type of contest it is and always has been.
Before recently, the assumption was that the battle would be waged on British shores. The reasoning for this, of course, being obvious. However, that was thrown into doubt over the past month or so.
It was reported at one stage that the United States was actually the frontrunner to be the location of the occasion, which predictably frustrated many British fans.
A few days ago, though, Turki Alalshikh stated that he wanted the fight to take place in England. But he claimed that if that were to happen, it would have to start at a time that suited American audiences.
This has also not been to the liking of many U.K. fans. However, it appears that this scenario is the one most likely to take place if/when the bout is made.
Fury vs. Joshua is expected to take place in November, one of the coldest months in England. This is why America was considered as a location in the first place. However, it is likely that the vast majority of English fans would brave the cold to witness such a long-awaited spectacle.
However, London mayor Sadiq Khan has now reportedly given the green light for Fury vs. Joshua to take place at 4 AM at Wembley Stadium to accommodate U.S. fans.
This type of thing is not uncommon in combat sports, though it is less common in boxing specifically.
Either way, it appears if British fans want Fury-Joshua on home turf, they will have to start adjusting their sleep schedules in preparation.
