Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua likely to take place in New York

Fury vs. Joshua to take place in New York.

Though the boxing world has long awaited the showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, the one thing that was assumed to be assured amongst all the uncertainty regarding the fight was the country the fight would take place in.

Fury is from Britain. So is Joshua. Being the two biggest sporting names of their nationality–as well as two of the biggest boxing names in the world–it seemed obvious that if/when they met, it would be in England, or at least somewhere in the United Kingdom.

But in the past few months, as the anticipated matchup has appeared more and more likely to take place, that being the case only dimmed to the point British fans had to grapple with the reality that this event they had been waiting so long to see might not take place on U.K. soil.

At first, the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles was rumoured, the true start of the possibility that the all-British affair might take place in the United States.

But then it was learned that Turki Alalshikh wanted it to be in England. Only, he wanted it at Wembley Stadium at 4 AM to suit American fans.

Amongst everything, British fans of pugilism could do no more than pray that everything would work out for the better.

Seemingly not.

The leading location for the fight is now stated to be New York, and it is believed that any hopes of Fury-Joshua being staged in the U.K. are now all but over.

Certainly a development that will sink the hearts of many, but one that is not completely unexpected.
