Manchester heavyweight speaks on heavyweight rivals.
Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Deontay Wilder are three of the biggest names in modern-day heavyweight boxing. The trio have been linked for years, with two of them (Fury and Wilder) engaging in a trilogy of fights.
It was during this trilogy that Wilder produced a long list of excuses to “explain” why he lost to Fury, this being after the pair’s rematch. And in recent weeks, “The Bronze Bomber” has doubled down on those claims.
These slanderous accusations involve Fury allegedly using illegal methods to achieve victory, and Wilder even bizarrely branded Jack Reiss (the referee for the first Fury-Wilder fight) racist for how he handled the bout’s 12th-round knockdown.
This all culminated in Wilder storming out of a talkSPORT interview after raging at Simon Jordan for looking down on the claims that were made.
In an interview on Rick Reeno’s “Mr. Verzace Podcast”, Fury was asked about a potential fight with Anthony Joshua, and “The Gypsy King” provided an answer while also touching upon Wilder’s recent comments.
Speaking on the Joshua fight, Fury stated, “I’m not gonna say too much about Anthony Joshua, because at this time in his life, he has a lot going on with the tragedies and the deceased friends that he’s had. So, that’s why I won’t go into it with him.”
Fury was referring to Joshua’s recent car crash in Nigeria that very sadly took the lives of two of his close friends.
Fury went on to say, “Rule number one for me is, I never kick a man when he’s at his lowest point, ever. I leave him alone. I wanna build them up and then kick ’em down when they’re at their highest. It’s like, people said to me, ‘Oh, what do you think about this sh*t that Wilder keeps sayin’?’. I pray for Wilder, and I’ve got no hard feelings against him. He’s got problems mentally, physically, and emotionally.”
A classy response from the Mancunian superstar.
“I’m not interested in going toe-to-toe with somebody who’s in a bad place at the moment. I’ve been in a bad place many, many times. … I wish them boys all the best.”
A classy response from Tyson Fury talking about Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder ❤️🙏
