Fury confirms next opponent if Joshua fight doesn’t happen.
Tyson Fury facing Anthony Joshua is something the entire world of boxing has been wanting to see for far too many years by this point.
At times, it has looked close to happening, but something always seems to occur that derails plans and leaves fans waiting ever longer for it.
It seems that now would be the last opportunity for it to take place, as both Fury and Joshua are in their late 30s and are no longer in their absolute primes.
Plans for it to be staged this November have provided renewed hope that we will finally get to see it. Though as of last night, a fresh batch of uncertainty has been added to the mix.
This is due to Fury’s appearance at the UFC Freedom 250 event, where a big announcement involving Dana White was teased.
White has stated that he will be the promoter of the Fury-Joshua fight, which both Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren have said will not be the case. In fact, Hearn recently stated that the contract itself says White can’t be involved with the event.
Whatever takes place in that regard, Fury has revealed who he will face if the Joshua bout doesn’t take place.
“There’s a few scenarios that’s happenin'”, Fury told iFL TV. “I’m in a great position, by the way. Number-one-ranked WBC again. If rabbits-face [Oleksandr Usyk] pulls out the fight with [Agit] Kabayel, then I’m in with Kabayel.
“So, if the Joshua fight doesn’t happen for whatever reason, then I’ll get me shot at [being] three times [heavyweight world champion] against Kabayel, and I’ll take it to Wembley.
“Three times heavyweight champion of the world. Agit Kabayel, this big destroyin’ man who I’ve known from bein’ a young lad and helped promote him, manage him, look after him, everythin’.”
Concluding, Fury stated, “So, that’d be great.”
