Tyson Fury comeback opponent revealed

The Gypsy King’s return to the sport of boxing is imminent as first opponent is revealed.

With Tyson Fury publicly announcing his return to the sport in December 2025, the boxing world has been eagerly awaiting news surrounding his comeback.

The Gypsy King alongside his manager Spencer Brown of Goldstar Promotions and his promoter Frank Warren have a big 2026 planned.

Frank Warren’s stable of heavyweights is dominant and this allows Fury, who is a commercial juggernaut, to navigate his way to challenging to become a three time world champion in 2026.

Frank Warren promotes current WBO World Champion Fabio Wardley, as well as former IBF World Champion Daniel Dubois, WBC Interim champion Agit Kabayel and WBC number 1 ranked Lawrence Okolie.

Tyson Fury last fought in December 2024, where he was defeated for the second consecutive time by Ukrainian superstar Oleksandr Uysk.

With Fury retirements being a regular occurrence throughout his career, speculation around his return began prior to his formal announcement.

Despite back to back defeats, many still believe that The Gypsy King still has plenty left to give the sport, with Matchroom Chairman Eddie Hearn stating that the two time World Champion is still in his prime.

Fury’s time out of the ring has ticked over 13 months, officially removing him from the Ring Magazine heavyweight rankings.

Due to this period of inactivity, it is believed that Tyson Fury will be taking a warm up fight before challenging the big players of the heavyweight division.

talkSPORT Boxing’s Gareth A Davies spoke on the radio station and revealed who Tyson Fury would be fighting next.

“He’s definitely got the bug again, he’s definitely excited again,” explained Davies.

“The way he’s training and the way he looks, I think they’re going to announce a fight soon.

“It’s going to be Arslanbek Makhmudov, who’s currently WBA ranked number 6.

“A credible, decent opponent, with a good stylistic matchup for Fury”.

Arslanbek Makhmudov is coming off an impressive points win over British cult hero David Allen.

The Russian now has a promotional agreement in place with Matchroom Boxing.

With Matchroom and Queensberry’s working relationship being at an all time high, this suggests that a fight between the two has minimal barriers to overcome during negotiations.

It remains to be seen what opponent Team Fury will opt for, but it seems like this next chapter of the stars iconic career will start imminently.
