Exclusive: Tyson Fury already near optimal fight weight claims brother Shane

Tyson Fury is close to his optimal fighting weight according to brother Shane Fury as he prepares for imminent comeback fight.

Tyson Fury is close to optimal fighting weight according to brother Shane Fury, ahead of imminent return to the ring.

The Gypsy King announced his retirement from the sport shortly after his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.

With retirements being a frequent feature of Fury’s career, fans never truly believed that Fury was gone for good.

A comeback fight is heavily rumoured for the former two time heavyweight champion of the world, with Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov tipped to be the opponent.

Fans still hope to see the long awaited clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua this year.

However, with the recent tragic events in Nigeria involving Joshua, Fury has called out a number of the divisions top fighters.

Tyson Fury has openly expressed his desire to fight either of the heavyweight champions, Oleksandr Usyk and Fabio Wardley, during 2026, with the intention to become a three-time champion of the world.

Currently, Fury is in Thailand, where he is undergoing consistent training as he awaits a fight date.

The outspoken heavyweight has been extremely active on Instagram in this time, sharing many clips of his strength and conditioning and boxing training.

When Fury has had extended periods out of the ring previously, fight experts have claimed that Fury lacks consummate professionalism and is prone to gaining significant amounts of weight.

Shane Fury has exclusively revealed that “Tyson Fury is currently weighing in at 19 stone 8lbs”.

When asked about the current shape of his brother, Shane stated “When you look at Tyson, you wouldn’t think he’d be able to fight at all”

“He’s got two love handles, two skinny legs, a bit of a belly, and not the biggest top half,

“But, he’s fit, you don’t meet many people stronger than him in the body, he’s talented and has a heart the size of this room,

“There’s no signs of declining with him,

“The only thing that let him down in his last fight was his gas tank.”

In the Oleksandr Usyk rematch, Fury weighed in at a career high 281lbs, with the gameplan to try and impose his size and natural strength onto the Ukrainian.

This was a similar gameplan that trainer Sugar Hill Steward implemented for the rematch and trilogy victories against Deontay Wilder, two performances that are widely regarded as some of Fury’s very best in the sport.

In these two fights, Fury weighed in at 273lbs and 277lbs respectively.

Team Fury may feel that this added weight and aggressive style of game plan may be more suited to the 37-year-old than the quick footed unorthodox style that saw him beat Wladimir Klitschko all those years ago.
