Turki Al-Sheikh has responded to online criticism by publicly announcing some major plans for the remainder of 2026.
Since Turki Al-Sheikh and SELA entered the sport of boxing in 2023, it is safe to say the boxing world has been flipped upside down.
Turki Al-Sheikh is the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) for Saudi Arabia
From delivering the first undisputed heavyweight world championship fight in over two decades, to forming working relationships between the sports long-standing promoters, there’s very little they haven’t accomplished.
In the early stages, the vast majority of these SELA mega events took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as a part of Riyadh Season.
But, since Turki Al-Sheikh acquired a majority shareholding in the Ring Magazine, these major fight nights have taken place in key markets.
From record breaking gates at Madison Square Garden, to back to back sold out Tottenham Hotspur Stadiums for the revisit of Eubank-Benn, boxing fans are seeing the best fight the best on a much more consistent level than previously.
In a response to online criticism around Turki and the Ring Magazine’s work in 2026, Turki Al-Sheikh has shared his major plans for 2026.
Via X, Turki stated: “I will be in London for the legend Tyson Fury vs [Arslanbek] Makhmudov at Tottenham Stadium”.
“We have Usyk-Rico heavyweight title fight at the Pyramids”.
“We are finalising Canelo in Riyadh Season for September”
“Planning to do two fights for [Anthony] Joshua, another for Tyson [Fury] and another for Garcia in the second half [2026].
“This is my schedule this year when I am busy and not interesting, imagine if I’m not”.
It is seemingly likely that Canelo Alvarez (63-3-2, 29ko’s) will face Christian Mbilli (29-0-1, 24ko’s) for the WBC super-middleweight world title in an event billed as ‘Mexico vs the World’,
For Anthony Joshua (29-4, 27ko’s), due to the tragic events in Nigeria, a warm up fight is likely before any talk of the eargerly anticipated all British showdown with Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24ko’s).
😂😂😂
Yes, I am very busy with other stuff. Thank God my country is safe and we are happy, even when we are close to war. Thank you for asking. Missile and drones coming to my country each day.And to prove your point that I am too busy and not interested in boxing anymore,… https://t.co/GR894zig21
