Ticket sales released for British heavyweight barnburner.
What happens when you put a heavyweight with a 95% knockout ratio against a heavyweight with a 95.45% knockout ratio?
Carnage, destruction.
Collateral damage.
Nice. Now, what happens when those two heavyweights are from the same nation that just so happens to produce the most passionate boxing fans in the world?
Excitement, ecstatic yells, thumping hearts.
Very good. Finally, what happens when those two heavyweights from the same nation do battle in the biggest indoor arena in their home country?
Oh, boy.
All of that describes the upcoming war between Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs).
When this fight was announced–heck, even when it was rumoured–everybody knew exactly what type of contest it would be.
A slugfest, a slobberknocker, a humdinger.
An absolute train crash of an affair.
Because how could a fight between two of the most powerful punchers in the heaviest division disappoint?
Daniel Dubois, for all his perceived flaws, has never been doubted when it comes to his ability to whack.
Fabio Wardley? Well, if it’s not power you know him for, it can only be his chin.
The most exciting part is that nobody knows for sure what will happen. Will Wardley’s heart and determination see him to victory, will Dubois’s technical ability be too much for his opponent, or will it simply come down to who lands first?
Who can say? This fight is the equivalent of locking two monsters in a room together and waiting to see just who will come staggering out alive, missing limbs and all.
And of course the public will show up to see such a contest, as evidenced by the fact that the hosting venue of the Co-op Live Arena–possessor of a capacity of 23,500–is almost completely sold out just under two weeks after tickets went on general sale.
The explosive spectacle for the WBO heavyweight world championship will be taking place on the 9th of May in Manchester, and whether you watch it in person or on a screen, you’re in for something extraordinarily special.
