“BoMac” gives his surprise Garcia-Benn prediction.
Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn will finally be letting fists fly for the WBC welterweight world title when they meet each other in the ring in almost exactly a month’s time.
When they step through the ropes, they will walk in as not just fighters, but as men with their respective countries and national identities behind them.
Before their showdown was officially announced, the two engaged in an online war of words, with Benn sending a video message in Spanish (which he speaks fluently), in which he denied Garcia’s Mexican heritage.
Regardless, Garcia will be heading into the fight as world champion on away soil. That gives him a very big advantage already, and many believe that he will defeat Benn when the night of their bout rolls around.
However, one man who is picking Benn to win is Terence Crawford, who stated recently that he is favouring the Englishman to emerge victorious against his fellow American.
Crawford, of course, retired last December as an undefeated fighter who had won world titles across five weight divisions and attained undisputed across three.
The man who guided him throughout his career is Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, who was the universal pick for “Trainer of the Year” when he was in Crawford’s corner during his 2023 victory over Errol Spence Jr.
He was also a nominee for the same award after Crawford’s win over Canelo Álvarez in 2025. And like his fighter, “BoMac” has now weighed in on the Garcia vs. Benn fight.
Speaking on The Last Stand With Brian Custer, when asked about the showdown, “BoMac” stated, “Conor Benn [is] gonna probably stop him … Ryan, he ain’t been the same since that first fight with [Devin] Haney, and he got popped [for drugs]. He’s just never got[ten] back to that type of winnin’. I’ve seen Benn first-hand. Man, that dude, he[‘s] gonna destroy [Garcia]. You heard it first. You heard it first from ‘BoMac’.”
“BoMac” trained Chris Eubank Jr. for his rematch with Benn, meaning he has indeed seen Benn at his most dominant up close. Either way, it appears both Crawford and his former trainer are in agreement as to how his fight with Garcia will go.
