Crawford offers surprise prediction.
Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn have been circling each other for a while, with the boxing world very possibly on the cusp of seeing their showdown made official for this September.
Whether or not their encounter does take place, fans have been talking about the matchup nonetheless, especially over the past 24 hours.
That’s because Garcia and Benn have engaged in a verbal spat online, with the upcoming FIFA World Cup match between England and Mexico serving as fuel for the machine.
This resulted in Benn sending a message to Garcia earlier today. This message arrived in the form of a video. In it, Benn spoke in Spanish (which he speaks fluently due to having lived on the island of Mallorca for a time).
Translated into English, Benn’s message was one of ultimately denying Garcia’s Mexican heritage and telling him to “stop lying to the people”.
A fight between Garcia and Benn is actually expected to be going down this September, although there has been no official announcement as of yet.
However, those in the boxing world have been making their predictions for the fight. One of these people is Terence Crawford.
Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show yesterday, Crawford provided his prediction for the bout, and his answer may surprise you.
“I think that’s a good fight”, Crawford stated. “I think, of course, Ryan got the experience, but I think Conor got the size and the power, and I think that it’s gonna be an interesting fight movin’ forward.”
When asked for his pick, Crawford replied, “I’mma go with Conor … I think he’s gonna upset him.”
When told that not a lot of people share his opinion on the fight, Crawford responded with, “I’mma pick him just ’cause.”
