The former two-division world champion has had his say.
Conor Benn and Ryan Garcia have been embroiled in a prolonged verbal back-and-forth over a potential clash.
Ryan Garcia even claimed the fight had been officially scheduled for September 12 in Las Vegas during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Despite Benn’s manager confirming he has signed on the dotted line, the pair are still working through various obstacles before anything is finalised.
Opinion remains split across the boxing world on how a potential Benn vs Garcia showdown would play out.
But Teofimo Lopez has now offered a fresh take on who he thinks will emerge victorious.
What did Teofimo Lopez say?
During an appearance on The Hook, Lopez explained: “I think [Conor Benn] is an outstanding fighter and I think that people are overlooking him a little bit.
“He didn’t look as flamboyant and as great with a great vet, though, and that was Regis Prograis.
“Regis Prograis is no pushover, and even with two cuts on Conor Benn and all those things, that’s the expertise and the professionalism that Regis Prograis pursues, and he has under his belt.
“But I think that with this fight, I think it’s September 12th they’re fighting in Vegas, allegedly, Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn.
“I think that it’s a great showdown and it’s about who wants it more.
“We’ve seen a great version of Ryan Garcia, but it’s because he had an opportunity again to fight and he wanted it more because he needed to show the world that [he could] become a world champion.
“That was his key highlight moment right there, but what does he do now? Is he gonna keep pushing that momentum, or is Conor Benn just gonna come over from across the pond and take over?
“May the best man win. I just want to fight the best man, so whoever got the best of that man, let’s fight.”
