Team Usyk comment on Tyson Fury trilogy fight

Team Usyk comment on potential Fury trilogy.

The long-awaited showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is one that has always seemed just out of reach of boxing fans. Quite a few times, it has appeared close to coming together, but something has always occurred that has prevented that from happening.

In recent months, it has looked closer than ever to taking place, with the two even having an in-person back-and-forth following Fury’s victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.

However, things appeared to start going downhill when it came out that the United Kingdom was unlikely to host the event, with the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York instead being the favoured location.

This upset many in the boxing world, and it has seemingly proven to be the biggest obstacle as far as negotiations are considered, with Eddie Hearn fighting for the all-British battle to take place on U.K. shores.

Currently, it is uncertain as to how close the fight truly is to getting made, but one person who has stated that it probably will not is Tyson Fury himself.

Earlier today, Fury posted a video to social media, in which he blasted Joshua and his team, stating that he would be moving on and looking at fighting an alternative opponent this November.

Boxing King Media can exclusively confirm that the team of Oleksandr Usyk has been contacted, and team director Sergey Lapin has stated that a fight with Deontay Wilder (that has yet to be announced) is their immediate priority.

However, it was also said that they would consider a trilogy with Fury after the Wilder fight, meaning that the Ukrainian’s next ring appearance might not be his last after all.

So, while a third fight between Fury and Usyk likely will not be taking place later this year, that does not necessarily mean that it will not happen at all.
