Fabio Wardley’s team have contacted the British Boxing Board of Control over the officiating in Saturday’s defeat to Daniel Dubois.

In front of a sold out Co-op Live, Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois went to war in a clash that is destined to win 2026 fight of the year.

Queensberry and Frank Warren billed it as ‘don’t blink’, and its safe to say they got it spot on.

Under 15 seconds into round number one Wardley landed on the top of Dubois head sending him to the canvas.

In the build up to this, many questioned the heart and character of Dubois, but its safe to say the man from South East London answered these questions in a big way.

Now a two time heavyweight world champion, Dubois showed serious resolve to get off the canvas.

After a turbulent opening three rounds, he took over, systematically breaking Wardley down.

A ramrod jab followed by one of the heaviest right hands in boxing landed repeatedly on the man from Ipswich, causing some serious damage to Wardley’s face.

Many have said it should’ve been stopped sooner, referee Howard Foster intervened in round ten, seemingly saving Wardley from more punishment.

However, Sky Sports understand that team Fabio Wardley have filed a complaint to the British Boxing Board of Control over the refereeing decisions of Howard Foster.

‘Extensive and visible damage to Wardley is thought to have been caused after he was caught by repeated illegal blows, including multiple head butts’.

‘His team would also like an explanation why Foster broke up the action, just moments after Wardley hurt Dubois in the closing stages of the seventh round’.

There is a rematch clause in the waiting for Wardley to trigger.

But after the brutal nature of a defeat like that, it is understandable if Wardley takes some time to recover in the short term.
