Sugar Ray Leonard’s son arrested

Boxing legend’s son is arrested following incident on Wednesday.

Sugar Ray Leonard is one of the greatest boxers who ever lived. An Olympic gold medallist and a world champion across five separate divisions, the legendary American was also statistically the most dominant of any fighter amongst the era of the “Four Kings”.

In a career of 40 total fights, Leonard emerged victorious 36 times and only tasted defeat on three occasions. His only other blemish was a draw.

Given his list of accolades and achievements, Leonard was a shoe-in for the International Boxing Hall of Fame, being inducted in 1997 despite having a fight scheduled against Héctor Camacho (this being because Leonard had been officially retired for five years).

The Camacho fight would end up being Leonard’s last, and since walking away from boxing for good, his legacy has been a thing of indisputable greatness.

Having celebrated his 70th birthday at the end of last week, Leonard has been rightfully enjoying his retirement from the profession, considered to be a living legend of the sport.

However, early Wednesday morning, the multi-weight titleholder’s residence became the subject of an attempted unlawful entry by 25-year-old Daniel Ray Leonard, the youngest son of the former boxing champion.

According to TMZ Sports, Daniel attempted to enter the property by turning exterior door handles, upon which Sugar Ray’s security team made a 911 call to report the situation.

When police officers arrived, Daniel was found by the pool house and was subsequently taken into custody for violating a restraining order.

Los Angeles County Court records show that Sugar Ray filed the restraining order against his son on the very same day, but it is unknown if this was the reasoning behind the event.

A hearing in the case regarding the restraining order is scheduled for the 15th of June.
