Son of Manny Pacquiao floored three times in first title shot

The young prospect has suffered a setback in his career.

Four months ago, Eman Bacosa, son of boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, scored five knockdowns in a dominant win over Reynold Kundimang.

However, this weekend brought a very different outcome for the 22-year-old prospect.

Bacosa was dropped three times before losing a majority decision to Rodelyn Perez.

The vacant Philippine Boxing Federation youth lightweight title was on the line at the DRT Sports Complex in Muntinlupa City.

The defeat saw Perez gain revenge for a previous loss to Bacosa.

It also marked the first championship belt of his professional career.

The young contender had previously outlined ambitions of winning titles and fighting in the United States.

He also spoke about continuing to improve while carving out his own identity in boxing.

At the time, the lightweight prospect appeared to be building strong momentum.

Bacosa was emerging as one of the latest members of the Pacquiao family to pursue a professional career.

However, that progress has now suffered a major setback.

Perez rocked Bacosa with a right hook in the second round, scoring the opening knockdown of the fight.

A second knockdown followed in the third after Perez recovered from trouble of his own.

The third knockdown in round five proved decisive.

Bacosa rallied late, but could not overturn the damage already done.

Ultimately, Perez won the bout via majority decision.
