The freshly crowned WBO super lightweight world champion has called out British rival.
Shakur Stevenson became a four-weight world champion when he claimed a unanimous decision victory against Teofimo Lopez this weekend.
The 28-year-old proved once again why he is regarded as one of the most elite technical operators in modern boxing.
Moments after he had his hand raised, he shifted his focus to calling out Conor Benn.
Stevenson insisted that he would be willing to move up to 147lbs to challenge the Briton, with any rehydration clause in place.
Benn promptly entered the ring to confront Stevenson, and tensions quickly escalated.
When the pair faced off, it became clear that Benn wasn’t impressed with Stevenson’s claims that their proposed clash would be another easy night for him.
Their confrontation escalated into a fierce shouting match, which saw both officials and team members stepping in to separate them.
While they were eventually separated, both men called on Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh to ensure that their fight would be actioned.
It seems the only way they can settle the score is to lace up the gloves, although Stevenson has since questioned the likelihood of Benn penning the deal.
During the post-fight press conference streamed by DAZN, Shakur Stevenson said: “If he’s not going to agree [to a rehydration clause], then we probably don’t fight.
“So he’s just wasting time. We’ll see.
“But I’m a businessman at the end of the day.
“Like I said, he did a rehydration clause with Chris Eubank Jr, and Eubank was in the ring half dead.
“Why can’t he do the same thing?”
