Sam Jones signs potential future superstar

Sam Jones officially signs potential boxing superstar.

It has been confirmed that manager Sam Jones has signed a potential future boxing superstar.

22-year-old amateur standout Odel Kamara has chosen to turn professional rather than wait for the 2028 Summer Olympics. The Liverpudlian super-welterweight previously had a long-standing dream to win an Olympic gold medal, but after much enthusiasm from some of boxing’s top managers, he has made up his mind to chase stardom in the paid ranks.

Winning a bronze medal in the 2025 World Boxing Championships, Kamara’s fighting style has seen him compared to the immortal Roy Jones Jr.

That type of praise can feel like a tremendous amount of expectation to live up to, especially so early on. However, those comparisons have been made since Kamara was very young.

The young Merseysider fights out of Salisbury Amateur Boxing Club, which has produced more than a few recognisable names in the boxing world, David Price and Derry Mathews being just a couple of examples.

It is not currently known who Kamara’s promoter will be, but Sam Jones has confirmed it will be one of either Frank Warren, Eddie Hearn, Ben Shalom, or Dana White.

Jones has also added former world title challenger Paul Smith as part of S-JAM Boxing, his management company. A number of notable boxers fight under S-JAM, and Smith will be managing them with Jones from here on out.

It should also be noted that while Jones does not have a manager’s licence, Smith does.

But at the end of the day, the signing of Odel Kamara represents something that’s always exciting for the sport: a highly touted amateur turning over to the professional code.

Now we shall all get to see exactly where that journey goes.
