Sam Jones fighter expected to be announcing barnburner this week.
In boxing, there are a few different types of fighters, and their style can very much determine how popular they become.
Pure technicians like Floyd Mayweather Jr. may become popular, but they don’t always win over the fans. Rather, it’s the type of fighters Mayweather beat (such as Arturo Gatti, Diego Corrales, and Manny Pacquiao) that tend to become the most beloved.
Whether right or wrong, that is very often the case. And from a certain perspective, it certainly makes sense.
It takes someone truly invested in the sport to properly appreciate technical fighters, whereas practically everyone can appreciate a pressure fighter.
However, there is a difference between a pressure fighter and a value-for-money fighter.
A value-for-money fighter gives it their all every single time and leaves everyone going home happy.
In Britain, there have been countless examples of these types of fighters, and a number exist today.
Fabio Wardley, Ekow Essuman, Troy Williamson….
Conah Walker.
Managed by Sam Jones, Conah ‘The Wolf’ Walker (17-3-1, 8 KOs) is one of the most unlikely success stories in the sport. Having lost at English level, Walker has since controversially lost to current world champion Lewis Crocker and pulled off remarkable wins over Harry Scarff and Pat McCormack.
You may hear of fighters who just keep on going forwards no matter what, but Walker really does just that. Even if he’s a mile (or a thousand) behind on points, he will never stop trying to achieve victory.
Walker has given us some terrific fights already, and in a post on his personal Twitter account, he has stated that he is set to announce some fight news sometime this week.
This fight is widely believed to be a showdown with fellow value-for-money fighter Sam Eggington (36-9, 20 KOs), who is been in a number of all-out wars in the past.
It is expected that the two will duke it out on the 2nd of May in Wolverhampton, Walker’s hometown.
