Promoter confirms British title fight for undefeated prospect.
Hamza ‘The Great’ Uddin (6-0, 3 KOs) is, in the opinion of many boxing fans, up there as one of Britain’s brightest young talents.
The Walsall flyweight made his professional debut in 2024 by stopping France’s Santiago San Eusebio in a performance that convinced many from the get-go that Uddin was someone to keep an eye on.
Uddin has had three fights each across his first two calendar years as a pro, and he has had close to nothing in the way of any actual difficulty.
In his second appearance of 2025, Uddin took on Argentinian former Olympian Leandro Jose Blanc, stopping him in 7 rounds.
When last seen, Uddin took out Paul Roberts in October to win the vacant English flyweight championship and announce his name as one to consider in the domestic 112-pound scene.
Despite there being only 14 active flyweights in Britain, there are several promising young fighters at the weight. Hamza Uddin is looking like one to really consider as a serious player in the future.
Of course, to get to the top level, the right steps will need to be taken along the way. And now Sam Jones, Uddin’s manager, has confirmed a fight that “definitely will happen this year”.
That fight is to be against Sean Bruce (8-2, 0 KOs), who became the British flyweight champion on Saturday by defeating the unbeaten Alfie Clegg.
Such an opponent is pretty much ideal at this stage of Uddin’s career, but before then, he will fight in June, as also confirmed by Sam Jones.
Only time will tell, but Hamza Uddin may yet prove to be Britain’s next flyweight hope. How he performs in his first big test could reveal everything.
Definitely will
