Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn set for August 2026

Ryan Garcia is set to make his first defence of his WBC welterweight world title against Conor Benn.

Conor Benn moved to 25-1 (14) on Saturday after a 98-92 x3 points victory over Regis Prograis (30-4, 24ko’s), but it’s safe to say his future opponent Ryan Garcia (25-2, 20ko’s) was not impressed.

Garcia took to X immediately after the fight to state “Conor Bumm”.

“I’m down Garcia vs Benn, let’s do it!”.

“Mark my words his corner or the ref stops my fight with Conor in the 6-7 round”.

Saturdays fight answered some but not all questions over Conor Benn’s pending world title pursuit at welterweight.

The 29 year old claimed that he made the agreed 150lbs limit well and wishes he made the move down to 147lbs instead.

‘The Destroyer’ had immense pressure on him entering that ring in North London on Saturday after his shock move from Matchroom Boxing to Zuffa Boxing.

It’s fair to say this pressured showed in the early rounds.

In somewhat similar fashion to the first Eubank fight, Benn came out all guns blazing with the intention of becoming the first man to stop the man from New Orleans.

As the fight settled down, Benn started to jab well, and his explosive style troubled Prograis on numerous occasions.

Southpaw vs Orthodox matchups tend to turn into a battle of footwork, and this was certainly a problem on Saturday, a number of head clashes cut Benn above both eyes, and the man from Essex has had to have a number of stitches.

Speaking to the Ring Magazine, Benn declared that these will heal in no time, and has expressed his desire to face Ryan Garcia this summer.

Salvador Rodriguez of the ESPN has took to X to state that ‘Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn will take place on Netflix in August 2026’.

A location has not been revealed or agreed yet, but this opportunity to become WBC welterweight world champion is what the Brit has been working towards his whole career.
