The Americans could be heading towards a highly anticipated rematch.
Ryan Garcia successfully defended his WBC welterweight crown last weekend against Conor Benn in Las Vegas.
Following his victory, the 28-year-old called out WBA welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez.
However, several lucrative blockbuster fights are available for his next appearance.
Gervonta Davis remains one of the biggest names on Garcia’s hit list.
Davis handed Garcia his first professional defeat in April 2023.
The pair met in one of boxing’s biggest events of the year.
Garcia has since insisted that his weight cut for the fight played a major role in the defeat.
The 28-year-old agreed to face ‘Tank’ at a 136lbs catchweight to make the fight happen.
The deal also included a 10lbs rehydration clause for fight night.
He had struggled to make the original 140lbs super-lightweight limit ahead of the clash, and that experience has shaped Garcia’s stance on a potential rematch with Davis.
‘King Ry’ will only agree to face Davis again at the 147lbs welterweight limit.
Davis has not fought since his majority draw with Lamont Roach in March 2025.
Garcia wrote via X on Tuesday: “I can confirm Gervonta and Al [Haymon] have contacted my team.
“147lbs or nothing. And I want him to get a tune-up fight and be at his best when we fight.
“He has some stuff to handle, but we, for sure, are going to get it going on.
“Let’s rumble.”
Garcia’s demand for a rematch at 147lbs could already put a second fight with Davis in jeopardy.
Davis has previously insisted he would only move up to 140lbs for a rematch with Garcia.
That leaves both fighters with conflicting demands over the weight limit for a potential return.
