Rolly Romero has announced the proposed fight date and venue for a welterweight unification bout against WBO champion Devin Haney.
Devin Haney (33-0, 15ko’s) has a multitude of options for his next fight.
WBO welterweight champion of the world, Haney has intentions of ruling another division.
San Francisco born, ‘the dream’ is already a former undisputed champion, and three weight world champion.
Last time out, Haney dropped Brian Norman Jr (28-1, 22ko’s) on his way to a unanimous decision victory to claim his first piece of 147lbs gold.
Former foe Ryan Garcia recently captured the WBC welterweight crown, and fans are calling for a unification rematch between the two.
Their last fight was full of controversy.
After a chaotic build-up, Garcia missed weight by three pounds, but seemed to put in a career best performance, dropping Haney three times on his way to victory.
It was soon revealed that Garcia tested positive for Ostarine in his VADA test.
Subsequently, the fight was deemed a no contest.
With Garcia serving his ban and returning to the pinnacle of the sport, many think the revisit is the natural path for both.
However, WBA welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero (17-2, 13ko’s) has thrown his name into the mix as of recent, and appears to be the front runner.
Rolly defied the odds to defeat Ryan Garcia in 2025 to become world champion.
However, it has been inactivity ever since for the man.
Close to a year out the ring, it seems negotiations are reaching the final stages for a unification bout against Devin Haney.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Rolly stated: “It’s looking like it might get done, May 30th, here in Las Vegas”.
When asked about the venue, Rolly said it is likely to be at the MGM Grand.
