Safar’s next fight revealed.
Sometimes, a little-known fighter shows up and lets the boxing world know what he’s all about. A fighter who was expected to be bowled over suddenly becomes the bowling ball, and people are left looking back, now all too aware of what they previously weren’t aware of.
This happened when Josh Warrington fought Mauricio Lara, it almost happened when Salvador Sanchez fought Azumah Nelson, and it happened when Sergey Kovalev fought Robin Sirwan Safar.
Kovalev was 41, yet he still brought to mind the “Krusher” he was when he terrorised the light-heavyweight division in the early and late 2010s, and obscure Swede Robin Sirwan Safar was expected to be a relatively easy victory for him on the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk 1 undercard.
Instead, Kovalev would get outboxed and heavily dropped in the final round. Once the Russian’s defeat was officially announced, many were left wondering, “Just who is Robin Sirwan Safar?”
Well, after signing with Golden Boy Promotions in early 2025, the world had a bit more of an idea, with Safar stopping Roberto Silva in his debut under the company.
Safar would then beat the undefeated Derick Miller Jr. before a title shot against Gilberto Ramirez fell through due to an injury suffered by the Swedish fighter.
However, Safar (19-0, 13 KOs) is now set to make his return on the Amari Jones vs. Vincenzo Gualtieri undercard, taking on Yamil Alberto Peralta (18-1-1, 10 KOs) for the WBC silver cruiserweight title.
Should Safar win, his prospects in the division would only glow brighter, and he would announce himself as a serious contender in the weight class.
