Ring Magazine issue statement after legal claims from Frank Warren

Statement released regarding ongoing legal dispute.

It was announced earlier today that Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren will be suing Sela and TKO for the sum of $1 billion for an alleged breach of contract.

This refers to the signing of the deal that launched Zuffa Boxing last year. This deal was signed by TKO and financially backed by Sela and Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia.

According to Frank Warren, Sela and TKO breached the terms of a contract signed with Queensberry by forming Zuffa. The International Boxing Hall-of-Famer seeking lost income to the tune of $1 billion, as he believes Queensberry would have made this amount of money had the contracts been adhered to.

Per Queensberry, Warren’s company signed an exclusive deal with Sela in September of 2023 for the purpose of providing boxing-related services that allowed Sela to gain some insight into Queensberry’s experience in the industry at a time when the Saudi Arabian company was just entering the sport of boxing.

Queensberry also state that a separate agreement was made with TKO that allowed for access to Queensberry’s online data, which included details of the contract signed with Sela.

TKO and Sela allegedly utilised privileged information to go behind Queensberry’s back and sign a deal that breaches both of the aforementioned contracts.

It is unknown to what extent this will impact the relationship that existed between Queensberry Promotions and Riyadh Season.

Either way, The Ring (currently owned by Turki Alalshikh) have posted a message to their personal social media. In it, it is said that there are “no plans for the two sides [Riyadh and Queensberry] to work together in the future.”

Towards the end of the message, they say that, “There has been intensified concern among the stable with Queensberry when it was learned that they were not being used as a promotional entity for Tyson Fury’s big U.K. comeback in April, and this concern has led to a scenario where a number of their fighters are seeking other promoters.”

More coverage will follow as the situation continues to unfold.
