Replacement announced after fighter pulls out on Queensberry card

Change announced for Moses Itauma undercard.

Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions have a stacked upcoming schedule of intriguing matchups and world-level action for boxing fans to look forward to over the coming months.

These include domestic shows like the British and Commonwealth welterweight title fight coming later this week between Owen Cooper and Constantin Ursu, March’s WBA super-featherweight title fight between Jazza Dickens and Anthony Cacace, and the WBO heavyweight title fight this May between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois.

However, the card featuring the most action and quality is likely the heavyweight clash between Moses Itauma and Jermaine Franklin Jr. on the 28th of March at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena.

Apart from the main event, there is a fascinating contest between Ezra Taylor and Willy Hutchinson, a middleweight dust-up featuring Brad Pauls and Shakiel Thompson, and more 160-pound action between Nathan Heaney and Gerome Warburton.

The card was originally scheduled for the 24th of January, but was postponed to the 28th of March after Moses Itauma suffered a bicep tear in training.

Though the card’s roster initially remained unaffected, two fighters elsewhere on the show have now pulled out.

Today, it was revealed that Zak Miller had pulled out of his featherweight contest with Liam Davies, unfortunately cancelling a very interesting fight.

However, it was quickly announced that Telford’s Davies (17-1, 8 KOs) will instead be taking on Italy’s Francesco Grandelli (21-4-2, 6 KOs) for the vacant European featherweight title.

Grandelli is a two-time European title challenger, having fought the likes of Nathaniel Collins and current European titleholder Cristobal Lorente.

This news arrives two days after it was revealed that Aqib Fiaz had pulled out of his fight with Jordan Flynn on the same card and that Flynn will now be fighting Michael Gomez Jr.
