The 37-year-old is calling it quits with a record of 30-4 (24 KOs).
This weekend, Regis Prograis went head-to-head with Conor Benn in the co-main event of Tyson Fury’s comeback fight.
Benn ultimately outpointed the American, with all three judges scoring it 98-92 in his favour.
Speaking post-fight, the two-time super-lightweight world champion revealed that he would be hanging up the gloves.
He told Ring Magazine: “Going in, I knew I was going to retire.
“This is my last fight. I knew this months ago – I just didn’t tell anybody but I was terrified going into this.
“It’s a great fight to be my last against someone like Conor Benn, someone that was strong, in an arena like this with 70,000 in a stadium.
“I couldn’t ask for a better going-away party, perfect end to my story.”
In the lead-up to their clash, there was widespread speculation that Regis Prograis was too injured to fight.
At the time, he firmly dismissed those claims, insisting he was in peak condition and fully prepared for the fight.
However, in the aftermath, his stance appears to have shifted slightly.
He continued: “The rumours about me being hurt were true. I wanted to pull out of this fight so bad a month ago, but kept pushing.
“I was terrified and thinking about pulling out even yesterday.”
