Regis Prograis has given an honest verdict on his ten rounds with Conor Benn, as well as Benn’s proposed fight with Ryan Garcia.
Regis Prograis (30-4, 24ko’s) has officially hung up the gloves after a wonderful career.
A two time world champion, the man from New Orleans fought the very best.
Although his career ended in defeat, it seems the 37 year old was just thankful to make it through Saturday.
Rumours of injuries in the build-up to the Conor Benn (25-1, 14ko’s) fight have now been confirmed by the American.
Prograis has claimed that he contemplated pulling out of the fight as late as the day of the weigh in.
Conor Benn was victorious via unanimous decision with the scorecards reading 98-92 x3.
It was dominant by the Brit, but Benn never got the stoppage so many expected of him.
Speaking to IFL TV, Regis Prograis has revealed his honest assessment of Saturday night, and what he makes of his opponent.
Prograis stated: “In this camp I got hurt four times, that’s why I was scared of the fight”.
“It wasn’t Conor Benn, it was the event, so many eyes on me”.
“I had a rib injury, I got a thumb in my eye, I hurt my right hand, I had a lot of injuries”.
“Taking nothing away from Conor Benn, none of this happened in the fight”.
Conor ‘The Destroyer’ Benn seems set to challenge Ryan Garcia for the WBC welterweight world championship this August in Las Vegas.
When questioned on Conor Benn as a fighter, Prograis stated: “He’s a British level fighter”.
“He’s not that world class level just yet”.
“Conor Benn hits very hard, but you see it all coming”.
“His jab wasn’t a weapon, it was just a throwaway punch”.
“With Ryan [Garcia], he does have a chance with his power, but Ryan does have better skills”.
“If I had to give a percentage chance of Benn beating Ryan I’d give 30 maybe 40”.
