Queensberry Promotions reportedly finalising deal to sign American heavyweight

Queensberry rumoured to be signing American heavyweight.

Once upon a time, the mystical land that was the boxing ring was graced by a creature equal parts wonderful and horrifyingly dangerous.

The American heavyweight.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.

At one point, Americans not only operated in the heavyweight division, but lived in it, treated it like a castle that they simply refused to let down the drawbridge of.

Of course, nobody questioned this, because the only way to challenge this mindset was to swim across the moat, storm the castle, and forcibly remove one of the kings from their throne.

But since that time, American heavyweights have been extremely limited in their numbers.

There have, of course, been the likes of former champions Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr., as well as Charles Martin. Jarrell Miller and Richard Torrez Jr. are also still very relevant, with there also being some buzz around amateur standout Joseph Awinongya Jr.

To maybe a lesser degree, Michael Hunter and Cassius Chaney will ring a bell to some, while Jermaine Franklin Jr. finds himself in a big fight this month

However, one man who seemed destined for stardom has stalled in recent times, his true potential seemingly yet to be fulfilled.

Jared Anderson started out 14-0 with 14 KOs, but cracks started showing for some when he failed to put away the aforementioned Charles Martin.

After stopping Andrii Rudenko, Martin went the distance again with Ryad Merhy, then was hung out to dry in five rounds by Martin Bakole.

Since then, Anderson has failed to impress in a decision win over the little-known Marios Kollias, which was over a year ago. However, rumours are now circulating that he is finalising a deal to sign with a new promoter.

This new promoter is Queensberry, the largely British-centric company owned by Frank Warren.

Queensberry Promotions is known for having the best heavyweight stable in the game, being home to some of the division’s biggest hitters (literally and metaphorically).

Given that, there are a number of exciting fights that could be made involving Anderson (18-1, 15 KOs), who is expected to make his U.K. debut in his next fight.
