The lead promoter for Tyson Fury’s return to the sport against Arslanbek Makhmudov at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been revealed
The Ring Magazine event will be Fury’s first fight in 15 months.
Fury’s been co-promoted by Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions and Bob Arum of Top Rank for a number of years.
With Top Rank having no broadcast deal, and Frank Warren being exclusive to DAZN, neither have any involvement with Fury vs Makhmudov, with Turki Al Sheikh and SELA securing the Gypsy King’s return fight.
Mark Shapiro has confirmed that Dana White, ZUFFA Boxing and SELA will promote Tyson Fury’s comeback fight vs Arslanbek Makhmudov live on Netflix.
Fury and Frank Warren have been on a brilliant journey to the top of the sport as fighter and promoter, and the news that Fury’s next fight will be promoted by Dana White emphasises the impact White and Zuffa Boxing plan to cause in the sport.
Sending shockwaves through the world of professional boxing, TKO and Dana White have made brash statements in their launch into the sport.
Dana White was the lead promoter of Canelo vs Crawford that was watched by over 65 million people on Netflix last September.
Despite being just three events into this venture, they have already ruffled the feathers of the existing promoters in the sport as they intend to do things the Zuffa way.
Signing Matchroom starlet Conor Benn sent shockwaves through the sport.
In addition to this, Frank Warren and Queensberry are preparing legal action against TKO, Turki Al-Sheikh and Dana White for $1 billion.
This has stemmed from a major falling out between the two parties, who previously worked closely on all Riyadh Season major boxing events.
While Zuffa Boxing’s first three shows have not set the world alight, the clear backing and blessing they have from Turki Al Sheikh both financially and with opportunities highlights that they are set to be a major player in the sports landscape.
