Potential Fury vs. Joshua undercard unveiled.
Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are expected to square off in November, though to the dismay of many British fans, it appears it will be taking place at New York’s Madison Square Garden as opposed to a venue in the United Kingdom.
Recent reports stated that contracts were signed on both ends, though that has now been disputed, and it is believed that the location of the fight is still officially an unresolved issue.
Eddie Hearn (Joshua’s promoter at Matchroom Boxing) has been very vocal about his stance that the all-British fight should take place in Britain, even stating that the fight will not go ahead if it is made official for New York.
Now (according to BoxingScene) Matchroom will be presenting an addendum to Saudi Arabian entertainment and hospitality company Sela, which will include a list of demands for Madison Square Garden to host the event.
This full list of requirements has not been revealed. However, one of the known plans is for the show to feature a strong undercard of Matchroom fights.
The first of these would be a unification bout between three-weight world champion (and current WBA bantamweight titlist) Jesse Rodríguez and WBO bantamweight titleholder Christian Medina.
The second of the stated matchups is a battle of Britain vs. America between WBA (Regular) welterweight champion Jack Catterall and former lightweight world champion Keyshawn Davis.
Third is a big-man affair between WBA heavyweight champion Murat Gassiev and controversial, outspoken American contender Jarrell Miller.
There could also be potential appearances between unbeaten Australian heavyweight hope Teremoana Teremoana and recent Matchroom signee Odel Kamara (who is officially scheduled to make his professional debut on the undercard of Ben Whittaker vs. Conor Wallace in early October).
All in all, if everything comes together looking like this, boxing fans are in for a fantastic night of entertainment.
