Foster reveals fighter he doesn’t want to face.
O’Shaquie Foster is considered by many to be the best super-featherweight in the world. The reigning WBC champion, the American has beaten the likes of Rey Vargas, Stephen Fulton, and most recently, Raymond Ford.
When it comes to who he could face next, fans have called for a showdown with WBO and IBF champion Emanuel Navarrete, a unification that would truly determine the world’s greatest 130-pound fighter.
However, there are alternative options for Foster to also consider, one of which is Ryan Garner.
Undefeated in 20 fights, England’s Garner notched his most recent victory a little over a week ago, defeating Michael Magnesi in one of this year’s most entertaining affairs.
With the victory, Garner earned the WBC interim title and mandatory status to Foster, leading a lot of fans to deem a fight between the two the most logical next step.
Although that does not appear to be the case, at least in the eyes of Foster himself, who expressed a lack of interest in that bout taking place.
“I’m sorry to his fans, the U.K. fans,” Foster stated, “but he didn’t have to force his way [into a fight with me]. We tried to make the fight happen twice. He said no. I tried to give him an opportunity.”
Foster has stated that he would like to face Shakur Stevenson, a pairing which would make for a highly interesting spectacle. After that, he claimed he would like Navarrete, and he also expressed to being open to a clash with Anthony Cacace, another super-featherweight from the United Kingdom who currently holds the WBA title.
Whatever is next for O’Shaquie Foster, he is certainly not short of paths to walk down, which means that presently, he is in a very good place.
