Oscar De La Hoya names possible fight date for Oritz-Ennis

Oscar De La Hoya has provided a potential fight date for the in-demand clash between Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.

Vergil Ortiz and Jaron Ennis could collide in one of the biggest fights of 2026 and Oscar De La Hoya has now named a potential date for the mouthwatering super-welterweight clash.

Ortiz-Ennis sits on the wish list for many fight fans this year, with the undefeated duo considered to be the top fighters in the 154lb weight division, despite neither currently holding a world title.

However, promoters Oscar De La Hoya [Ortiz] and Eddie Hearn [Ennis] have struggled to reach an agreement for the fight, with each man believing that their fighter deserves the lion’s share of the purse split.

After much back and forth, De La Hoya has taken to Instagram to apply further pressure onto Ennis and Hearn, revealing his willingness to stage the contest in March.

“It has been 72 hours since I made that video calling out Boots [Ennis] and Eddie [Hearn].  They want the fight so bad? Let’s make it. I’m right here.

“60/40, five percent to the winner. Let’s go for March. I have banger fights lined up for January, February, Cinco De Mayo weekend [May]. Let’s get this fight done. The fans want to see it.

“But guess what? Vergil has other options. So, if you want it, call me.”

Whilst the bout is very much in-demand, the chances of it being next have been dented by a recent fallout between Team Ortiz and DAZN – the likely broadcaster of the event.

Alternatively, Ortiz has also been linked to a scrap with Errol Spence Jr., who is yet to fight since a devastating defeat to Terence Crawford back in July 2023.

Meanwhile, Hearn has also targeted a March return for ‘Boots’ Ennis, but has threatened to seek out other opponents due to his frustration at a lack of progression during negotiations with De La Hoya.
