Oscar De La Hoya goes in on Dana White and Zuffa Boxing

Head of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya rips in to Dana White and Zuffa boxing in his most recent clapback Thursday

Oscar De La Hoya’s ‘clapback Thursdays’ are back, and the promoter of Golden Boy Promotions has fired shots at Dana White and Zuffa Boxing once again.

It has been no secret Zuffa boxing’s mission is to cause some serious disruption in the sport.

Dana White aims to replicate the UFC model that he has had so much success with in Mixed Martial Arts.

The plan is to disregard the four recognised governing bodies, the WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF, as well as not working with other promoters, only staging in house fights.

Zuffa boxing unveiled their inaugural ‘Zuffa belt’ this week.

Cruiserweight king Jai Opetaia will be the first to fight for the Zuffa belt in March, when he faced Brandon Glanton.

Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing and Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy are two of America’s most prominent operators in the scene, and have doubled down on the traditional boxing scene.

The war of words between the promoters is heating up

Oscar De La Hoya sent serious shots at Dana White in his most recent clapback Thursday on social media.

De La Hoya stated:

“They actually made up a belt and they want you to believe it has generational value.

My f***ing Tom Ford belt has more history and significance. Eddie Hearn’s Heirloom leather belt passed down from his great grandfather’s estate has more excellence.

Uncle Fester actually had the balls to make fun of Eddie for taking over what his father built at Matchroom?

Fester, wake the f**k up, you’re funded by daddy. You have daddies paying your bills.

The Fertittas funded the UFC and now Turki is funding Zuffa Boxing.

You didn’t put your own money into Zuffa because you don’t truly believe in it.”
