Oleksandr Usyk’s promotional company announces newest boxing event

Usyk-17 Promotions announces next boxing card.

Usyk-17 Promotions (the promotional company owned by Oleksandr Usyk) has officially announced its newest boxing event following its relaunch this year.

The event will be held in dedication to the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence and will feature many of the country’s up-and-coming talents.

In a press release, Oleksandr Usyk stated, “35 years of independent development is actually not a very long time. 12 of those years have been lived under conditions of war, but look at how much we have already managed to achieve despite everything.

“Look at the incredible athletes we have. Not only boxers, but Olympic champions and paralympians, artists, musicians, scientists.

“We want to remember our greatest victories, honour those who fought and continue to fight for our freedom, and show the world that Ukraine has been, is, and will remain a country of strong, talented, and unbreakable people.”

The event will be taking place on the 22nd of August at the !FESTrepublic in Lviv, Ukraine, and will be headlined by former Olympic gold medallist Oleksandr Khyzhniak (2-0, 2 KOs) in his first title fight.

Sergey Lapin (Usyk’s team director) said of the card, “A first title fight is both a natural and important step in Oleksandr’s professional career. He is ready for a new level of competition and to prove his quality in championship fights.

“For Usyk-17 Promotions, it is especially important that this stage of his journey begins in Ukraine at our second boxing event in Lviv. Our goal is to build a platform in Ukraine where the strongest boxers can develop, win titles, and confidently progress to the international level.”

Khyzhniak’s opponent has not yet been announced, but the rest of the bill will include a co-main event featuring Pavlo Illiusha (3-0, 3 KOs) and undercard appearances from professional debutants Maksym Rudyk, Bogdan Tolmachov, and Jamal Kuliev, Maksym Zymenko (2-0, 2 KOs), Dmytro Lovchynskyi (2-0, 2 KOs), Elvin Aliyev (2-0, 2 KOs), Mykola Laktionov (3-1, 3 KOs), Aider Abduraimov (1-0, 1 KO), and Matvii Razhba (2-0, 1 KO).

The sporting program will feature themed fan zones, which will include an interactive map of Ukraine and an area for official Oleksandr Usyk merchandise. In addition, the event’s music program will be headlined by Ukrainian rock band Kozak System.
