Oleksandr Usyk lays out a three fight roadmap including British heavyweight stars as the Ukrainian plans to retire in the near future.
Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15ko’s) has already dominated Britain’s very best throughout his illustrious career, and it seems he’s not ready to stop just yet.
A two weight undisputed world champion, Usyk has a resume so stacked it would take too long to write out in full.
Defeating British fighters has been a key theme, and this is a large factor in why the southpaw is so popular in the UK.
Anthony Joshua (29-4, 27ko’s), Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24ko’s), Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21ko’s) have all fallen at the Usyk hurdle twice respectively.
At 39 years old, it is no secret that Usyk is well and truly in the latter stages of a remarkable career.
The pound for pound number one will fight kickboxing star Rico Verhoeven (1-0, 1ko’s) on May 23rd at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, live on DAZN.
Speaking on InsideRingShow, Usyk has given an update on the roadmap for the remainder of his career.
The southpaw genius has stated: “Listen, Rico is first”.
“Second is the winner of Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois”.
“Third fight is my friend greedy belly Tyson Fury”.
Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19ko’s) has been calling for this undisputed title fight ever since defeating Joseph Parker (36-4, 24ko’s) last October.
First he will have to take care of one of the divisions most dangerous fighters in Dubois, who is back under the stewardship of Don Charles.
With Usyk being 2-0 up against both Dubois and Fury, fight fans might not be calling from the hilltops for these trilogies.
However, both Usyk vs Fury fights gave fight fans brilliant buildups as well as extremely competitive fights.
Fury has always publicly declared his desire to fight Usyk one more time, with the Gypsy King believing he should’ve had his hand raised previously.
