Oleksandr Usyk announces date of first Ukraine event

Oleksandr Usyk has announced the fight date and location for USYK17’s first homecoming show to Ukraine with Daniel Lapin defending his titles.

Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15ko’s) has announced his inaugural event in Ukraine for USYK17 promotions.

The Ukrainian heavyweight has already accomplished everything there is to accomplish in professional boxing.

He will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Currently the IBF, WBA and WBC world champion, Usyk has defeated Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois twice each.

Not only this, his run at cruiserweight was also extremely impressive, with wins over Murat Gassiev, Mairis Breidis and Michael Hunter.

Usyk is a three time undisputed champion of the world, and has delivered so much pride and hope to his beloved country of Ukraine.

Ukraine has been starved of big time boxing due to the tragic circumstances of their conflict with Russia.

However, this is about to change.

USYK17 promotions have announced that they will stage an event billed as ‘Rising Stars’ on March 21 in Kyiv, Ukraine.

The event will be headlined by close friend of Oleksandr Usyk Daniel Lapin (12-0, 4ko’s).

Lapin will defend his WBO Intercontinental, WBA Intercontinental, and IBF Intercontinental titles.

The event will also feature the professional debut of Olympic gold medalist Oleksandr Khyzhniak.

Speaking to Instagram, Usyk stated:

“My beautiful people, got a little exclusive for you, the professional debut of our incredible cossack Oleksandr Khyzhniack”.

“The title defense of our wonderful Daniel Lapin”.

“Come watch incredible boxing”.

“Absolutely I will be there, you know I’ll be there”.

“This time I’ll be there as a promoter”.

The event is set to be a wonderful homecoming for the fighters, but also Usyk who has represented Ukraine on a global level for a number of years.
