Nigel Benn addresses Eddie Hearn’s comments on his son Conor

Nigel Benn comments on recent fallout between Hearn and his son Conor.

The fallout between Eddie Hearn and Conor Benn is something nobody could have foreseen just a few months ago. Benn seemed loyal to Matchroom Boxing, and Hearn vehemently defended Benn’s name following his positive drug test.

Nobody was prepared for the news that Benn had signed with Zuffa Boxing, as it went against what everyone thought they knew.

This arrived after Benn’s rematch with Chris Eubank Jr., before which he had noticeably won over a large portion of the British boxing public following his sterling effort in the first fight.

Following his split with Matchroom, there have been comments made by both Hearn and Benn, especially regarding money. In an interview last week, Hearn claimed that he lent Benn a total of £550,000 to buy a house and a car.

This arrived after Benn’s claims that Matchroom hadn’t paid him a cent, something also denied by Matchroom CEO Frank Smith.

Nigel Benn (Conor’s father, former two-weight world champion, and International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee) has now had his say on Eddie Hearn in a new interview with Boxing King Media.

“I think everybody’s, like–you know–jumpin’ on my son. It’s my son that’s out there fightin’ for his family and securin’ his family’s life”, said the 62-year-old.

“So, I think, at the end of the [day], nobody said nothin’ when Eddie–no disrespect to Eddie–but nobody said anythin’ when Eddie left Sky Sports and went to DAZN. No-one ever said nothing, but that was okay. Other guys loved fightin’ on Sky Sports, but you know, they had to go to DAZN. And then when you–I don’t know if it was true, but he was meant to have take[n] Ben Whittaker off of Ben Shalom.”
