After injuries and setbacks, a fresh undercard has been announced for Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois
One of the biggest fights in the boxing calendar in Wardley-Dubois is now under two weeks away.
In front of a sold out Co-op Live in Manchester, Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19ko’s) makes his first defence of his WBO heavyweight world title against Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21ko’s).
Very few see it going past the halfway stage let alone to the final bell.
Both man carry explosivity like few others in the heavyweight division.
Their knockout ratios back this up.
Wardley and Dubois have some similarities, ferocious power and an attacking style are prime examples.
However, intriguingly, they have a lot of differences as well.
It is set up to be a fight of the year candidate in Manchester, and Frank Warren has supplied a stacked undercard in support.
Initially, Solomon Dacres was set to face Jared Anderson in the co-main,
But the American has suffered a torn bicep, subsequently ruling him out of his Queensberry debut.
The undercard now reads as follows:
David Morrell vs Zak Chelli
Jack Rafferty vs Ekow Essuman
Bakhodir Jalolov vs Agron Smakici
Liam Cameron vs Bradley Rea
Khaleel Majid vs Gavin Gwynne
David Morrell was set to face Callum Smith for the WBO interim light-heavyweight title in Liverpool with the fight being cancelled due to injury.
Ekow Essuman makes his return after a brutal defeat to British standout Jack Catterall last November.
It will actually be a move down in weight for the man nicknamed ‘Engine’ to super-lightweight to take on Jack Rafferty.
Rafferty himself is looking to get back to winning ways, after a majority draw to Mark Chamberlain.
The heavyweight undercard replacement goes by the name Bakhodir Jalolov.
An Olympic gold medallist, Jalolov is looking to make his name on the world scene at professional level.
