Moses Itauma vs. Filip Hrgovic date and location announced

Itauma vs. Hrgovic date and location revealed.

Ever since Moses Itauma brutally took care of Jermaine Franklin in March, the hype around the 21-year-old heavyweight has been as vociferous as ever.

That’s the type of reaction you get when you absolutely bulldoze a guy whose only defeats came on points to recognised names in Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte.

Either way, all anyone could think about after such a performance was who Itauma would fight afterwards. Despite his promise, the occasion was only the third time in his 14-fight career that he had been beyond the second round.

And while Franklin was thought to have a tough chin, it’s clear that it wasn’t tough enough. So, Itauma would logically have to next face someone with an even tougher chin.

The Briton specifically named his desired opponent as Filip Hrgovic, a world-ranked Croatian who is considered by many to have the most durable jaw in the division.

At the time, Hrgovic was scheduled to fight Dave Allen. However, given how easily he got past the Yorkshireman last month, a fight with Itauma would definitely not be too quick a turnaround.

And after a while of rumours and reports, we now know that this contest will be the one taking place next. Furthermore, we know when and where it will be.

According to Sky Sports Boxing, Itauma will be facing Hrgovic on the 29th of August at the O2 Arena in London, England. While an official announcement from Queensberry Promotions (who promote both fighters) has yet to be released, it is safe to assume that we will be receiving confirmation of the bout not long from now.

And when it occurs, we will finally find out just how justified the excitement around Moses Itauma really is.
