The 21-year-old has a wise head on his shoulders.
Moses Itauma is lacing up his gloves to take on Jermaine Franklin tonight in Manchester.
Despite this only being his 14th professional outing, the rising star has already been compared to legends like Mike Tyson.
While Itauma is grateful to hear his name in the same breath as Mike Tyson, he insists he only wants to learn from the greats.
Rather than mimicking them, that is.
He explained: “I like it and I don’t.
“It’s great to be compared to such a legend in the sport, but the comparison is success at a young age.
“Apart from that, there’s nothing really similar.
“We are polar opposites, I guess we both just love knockouts.
“I can take what I like from Mike Tyson, and I can appreciate the career he had.
“But it doesn’t mean I have to be that person.”
It’s not just Tyson that has taught Moses Itauma invaluable lessons.
He continued: “The blessing of being in Tyson Fury’s camp was being able to speak to him and spend time around him.
“When I trained with him, I had the conversations I needed to have.
“And when I was with AJ, that was another blessing.
“The biggest lesson I learned from Tyson was that to have success, you have to have a little bit of not caring.
“If you care too much, you might just miss it.
“And from AJ, he told me I was a citizen of the world, and not to tie myself down to one entity.
“But I’m not building my career off other people’s backs, I’m doing it my own way.
“I respect these guys, but I don’t need to have their careers.
“Tyson and AJ have their own things going on, and I’ve got Jermaine Franklin.
“I need to know what it’s like to experience the latter parts of fights, and that’s why we’ve taken this fight.
“I’ve been asking for it for a year and a half, and now I can answer the questions I’ve been asking of myself.
“If I’ve got a good game plan and I’ve prepared diligently.
“I don’t think there’s any heavyweight who can withstand my capabilities.”
