Filip Hrgovic is in serious contention to be Moses Itauma’s next opponent on August 8, should he come through Dave Allen this Saturday.
Filip Hrgovic takes on a fourth successive Brit this Saturday as fan favourite Dave Allen welcomes the Croatian to Doncaster.
On the surface, this should be a simple nights work for Hrgovic, but stranger things have happened, especially in the heavyweight division.
Just take last weekend for example, down at light-heavyweight, Zak Chelli pulled off one of the upsets of the year, stopping two time world champion David Morrell.
If Allen was to mark his homecoming fight with the win of his career, the Yorkshireman eyes a potential fight with Tyson Fury.
However, it’s not just Allen who has massive opportunities ahead of him, ‘El Animal’ is in line for a big summer fight against Moses Itauma according to EverythingBoxing.
Itauma is tipped to dominate the heavyweight division for years to come.
At just 21, the Kent star is number one ranked with the WBO.
In his most recent fight, Itauma become the first person to stop the durable Jermaine Franklin Jr.
Whilst that was an impressive step up in opponent, there are still more levels to go for the southpaw.
Hrgovic is ranked in the top 5 heavyweights on the planet with the Ring Magazine.
The Croatian is also known for his durability, having never been knocked down.
His sole defeat come at the hands of the now WBO heavyweight world champion Daniel Dubois, via a doctors stoppage.
Many see Itauma-Dubois as the best fight in the division, but could ‘El Animal’ interfere?
August 8 at the O2 Arena is the date and location for Itauma’s next bout.
If Filip Hrgovic comes through relatively unscathed this Saturday, this is a turnaround more than doable, and would be a brilliant headline fight at London’s landmark arena.
