Tyson vs. Mayweather exhibition is back on.
Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are likely the two biggest boxing-related names in the last number of decades.
Despite being several weight divisions apart, despite having completely opposite fighting styles, the two Americans captured the attention of the public like few other boxers in history.
Becoming so famous that they transcended boxing entirely and became mainstream personalities, they share a number of similarities despite their myriad of differences.
Both have been part of controversial moments in and out of their boxing careers, and both have also taken part in some novelty bouts once or twice.
For Tyson, this would be his 2020 exhibition with Roy Jones Jr. and his professionally sanctioned 2024 bout with Jake Paul.
Mayweather, however, has taken part in a number of exhibition bouts, including against Logan Paul, Jake’s brother.
In fact, he has another scheduled this year against kickboxer Mike Zambidis, as well as a professional rematch against Manny Pacquiao in September.
And on top of that, he now seemingly has a fight against Tyson, which was originally scheduled for earlier this year.
According to CSI Sports, the exhibition is now back on after being pushed back due to Tyson having to “work through a smooth recovery” because of a broken hand suffered during training.
Both boxing superstars are years removed from their athletic primes, with Mayweather recently turning 49 and Tyson set to turn 60 this June. However, it must be said that Mayweather has remained far more active in boxing as a whole, even in the off-the-record sense.
Because of the sheer size disparity, this encounter could be very intriguing to see. However, there has been some confusion regarding the fact it will be staged around the same time as Mayweather’s rematch with Pacquiao.
